Points to Remember:

1. Try to purchase your new air conditioning or heating system in the off seasons - March, April, May or September, October, November. Dealers are not very busy in those months and will offer better deals. You should run your cooling units in the early Spring months and if the air temperature coming out of the grills is more than 60°F, call a dealer for a check-up. The same for the Fall months for your heating system, if the air coming out of the grills is less than 90°F, you should have it checked.

2. Use a Factory Authorized Dealer (Certified Comfort Expert). Most factory authorized dealers offer a money-back satisfaction guarantee backed by the manufacture. Click to find a certified dealer.

3. Make sure your dealer sells you air conditioning equipment that qualifies for the $1500.00 federal Tax Credit. Click for equipment that qualifies for the Federal Tax Credit.

4. Purchase higher efficiency equipment that qualifies for your local utility rebates and on average you will save over $1,000.00 a year in utility costs. Click here to find Utility rebates for your area.

5. Have the dealer calculate the operating cost of a high efficiency system vs. your old system and a standard efficiency system. Click to calculate operating cost.

6. Ask your dealer if the manufacturer is offering a rebate. Some quality manufacturers are offering up to $1,700.00 in rebates. Click for Manufacture rebates. Remember, when you consider the tax credit, utility rebates and manufacture rebates, a high efficiency system in most cases will actually cost less than a standard system. When you consider utility cost savings there is no comparison that we have seen where the standard efficiency system makes more sense to purchase than a high efficiency system if you are staying in your house for at least 2 years.

7. See if your dealer is offering financing, some dealers offer free financing for 6 months and/or offer financing at a very low interest rate. Click to calculate monthly payment.

8. Make sure your dealer has a license and is insured to install heating and air conditioning - all certified Comfort Experts dealers (CCE dealer) have to be licensed and require insurance to be a CCE dealer.

9. Do not pay for the total job up front before you have the system installed. A 50% down payment is standard in the industry or no down payment if the system is financed.

10. Get it in Ink - Sign a written proposal before you buy A/C products or work gets started. It'll protect you by specifying project costs, model numbers, job schedule and warranty information.
